Azoria Capital, an investment firm led by Trump supporter James Fishback, has filed a lawsuit against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and other officials. The firm is seeking to compel the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) to hold its monetary policy meetings in public.
The lawsuit, filed on Thursday in a federal court in Washington, claims that the FOMC's long-standing practice of conducting meetings behind closed doors violates government transparency laws. Azoria is specifically requesting that the Fed hold its meeting on July 29-30 in an open session.
In the filing, the firm stated, "Azoria is deeply concerned that under Powell’s leadership, the FOMC is maintaining high interest rates, undermining President Trump’s economic agenda and harming American citizens and the broader economy."
